Experimental evidences indicate that the infant perceives the pain more intensely than an adult. Health care facilities the infant is subjected to medical treatments that often involve a high probability of causing pain. In spite of this perceived phenomenon is systematically underestimated as the child is not able to verbally express his needs and feelings.
In this regard, we interviewed Professor Carlo Bellieni, neonatologist at the University of Siena, who recently in a scientific publication has examined the effect of pain in the newborn and the possible correlation with brain damage.
